RELOADING ENLARGEMENT

Tirana Connectivity Forum 2023 aims to reframe the current discussions on EU Enlargement in Southeast Europe 6 (SEE6) placing them in a development-based approach.

In this optic the SEE6 accession to EU consolidates the achievements in SEE6 rule of law, increases resilience of ongoing institution building process, fosters local growth and speeds up the convergence pace with EU neighboring countries.

TCF2023 will be built on two pillars.

  • the first pillar focuses on the current situation of the implementation of EU Economic and Investment Plan Flagship projects, and of the WB6 Common Regional Market mobility agreements. Specialized CSO and think tanks from the region and from the EU will share their assessment and draw conclusions on their progress and impact on growth and on the life of SEE6 citizens;
  • the second pillar will bring together the think tanks that have put forward different Enlargement scenarios. They will present the specifics and added value of different scenarios and discuss with policy-makers from the region and from EU on how they can contribute to the speeding of SEE6 accession to the EU.

Slightly differently from previous editions, TCF2023 will be organized in the form of round tables featuring selected high-level speakers, experts, policy-makers, thinkers and strategic stakeholders. This method has been chosen to allow for a constructive exchange, and to aim at reaching a shared understanding of the way ahead.

TCF2023 will be an invite-only event and it will be conducted under Chatham House rules.
