TCF2022 part of the Czech Presidency official calendar of activities

The upcoming edition of the Tirana Connectivity Forum is officially part of the official calendar of activities of the Czech Presidency of the Council of the European Union. This is the 5th time that TCF is part of the official calendar of presidencies after the Slovenian presidency in 2021, the German presidency in 2020, the Polish Presidency of the Berlin Process in 2019, and the Austrian presidency in 2018. 

 

The Czech Presidency

The Czech Republic took over for the second time, the presidency on the 1st of July 2022 with a commitment to make tangible progress in the EU enlargement negotiations and support the WB in their integration.

It will chair meetings at every level in the upcoming 6 months, ensuring the continuity of the EU’s work in the Council.

The priorities set for the upcoming 6 months will include 5 main topics: 

  • ​​Managing the refugee crisis and Ukraine’s post-war recovery
  • Energy security
  • Strengthening Europe’s defence capabilities and cyberspace security
  • Strategic resilience of the European economy
  • Resilience of democratic institutions

 

The Trio Programme 

Together with the French Presidency and the upcoming Swedish presidency, The Czech presidency is part of the Trio Programme whose focus areas are the protection of the citizens and freedoms; building economic foundations; building a climate-neutral, green, equitable and social Europe and promoting European interests and values in the world.

The trio will implement a strategic approach in relation to the Western Balkans. It will pay attention to the advancement of economic integration among the countries themselves, the recovery, as well as the continued provision of security by the EU. It will continue the accession process in accordance with the enhanced enlargement methodology by supporting deep and transformative reform in key areas such as the rule of law, democratic institutions, free media and the economy. The trio will seek to reinvigorate the regular political dialogue with the region.
